A precise approach to identifying your allergy triggers.

Miami Eye Institute, led by Dr. Inna Ozerov, offers comprehensive in-office allergy testing for patients with chronic eye irritation, redness, itching, swelling, and tearing that doesn’t respond to general over-the-counter remedies.

Eye allergies — medically known as allergic conjunctivitis — are caused by an immune response to specific allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, mold, grasses, or trees. Without knowing which allergens are responsible, treatment is essentially a guessing game.

Our in-office allergy testing identifies your specific triggers in a single visit. Results guide an effective, targeted treatment plan — including topical therapies, systemic medications, and exposure-reduction strategies built around your environment. Miami Eye Institute proudly serves patients in Hollywood, Florida, Miami, Florida, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Hallandale Beach, Aventura, Davie, Miramar, Cooper City, Weston, Plantation, and surrounding South Florida communities.

  1. Comprehensive Symptom Review

We review your medical history, symptom patterns, seasonal triggers, and home and work environments to focus testing on the most likely allergens.

  2. In-Office Skin Test

A simple, low-discomfort skin test exposes small areas of skin to a panel of common allergens including pollens, molds, dust mites, pet dander, and more.

  3. Same-Visit Results

Within about 15 to 20 minutes, results are visible and reviewed with you in detail — allergen by allergen.

  4. Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your results, Dr. Ozerov designs a tailored plan combining topical drops, oral antihistamines, environmental adjustments, and longer-term strategies as appropriate.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions about allergy testing.

Wondering how in-office allergy testing works? Here is what to expect before, during, and after your visit.

What is in-office allergy testing?
In-office allergy testing is a quick, comfortable skin test performed in our office that exposes small areas of skin to a panel of common allergens. Reactions reveal which substances are triggering your eye and systemic allergy symptoms.
Who should consider allergy testing?
Anyone with chronic eye itching, redness, tearing, swelling, or congestion that doesn’t respond well to general allergy medications. Patients with seasonal symptoms, year-round symptoms, or symptoms triggered by pets or specific environments benefit most.
How long does the test take?
Most patients spend about 30 to 45 minutes in the office. The test itself takes about 15 to 20 minutes for results to develop on the skin, and we review and discuss findings during the same visit.
Is allergy testing painful?
The test is generally well-tolerated. The small skin pricks cause minimal discomfort — most patients describe it as a brief tickle or pinch. If you have a positive reaction, you may experience mild itching at the site for a short time.
Do I need to stop my allergy medications before testing?
Yes — many oral antihistamines can interfere with skin test results. We will give you specific instructions before your visit, but typically you’ll stop antihistamines 5 to 7 days before testing. Always follow our team’s exact guidance.
What happens after testing?
Dr. Ozerov reviews your results in detail and builds a personalized treatment plan. This may include topical drops, oral medications, environmental modifications (such as HEPA filters or pet-area changes), and long-term strategies for symptom control.
Is testing covered by insurance?
Most insurance plans cover allergy testing when it is medically necessary. Our team will help verify your coverage in advance. Patients across Hollywood, Florida, Miami, Florida, and surrounding communities choose Dr. Ozerov for accurate, in-office allergy diagnosis and treatment.
