A proven path to lasting dry eye relief.

Miami Eye Institute, led by Dr. Inna Ozerov, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye syndrome — a chronic condition that affects tear quality, tear quantity, or both.

Dry eye can cause burning, stinging, redness, grittiness, blurred vision, light sensitivity, and even excessive watering. It often results from aging, hormonal changes, screen time, contact lens use, medications, or meibomian gland dysfunction.

Effective treatment starts with identifying which type of dry eye you have — evaporative, aqueous-deficient, or mixed. Our advanced testing and tailored therapies, including in-office treatments, deliver real, lasting relief rather than just temporary fixes. Miami Eye Institute proudly serves patients in Hollywood, Florida, Miami, Florida, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Hallandale Beach, Aventura, Davie, Miramar, Cooper City, Weston, Plantation, and surrounding South Florida communities.

  3. Personalized Treatment Plan

Treatment may include prescription drops, punctal plugs, anti-inflammatory therapy, omega-3 supplementation, lid hygiene, and in-office gland treatments.

  4. Ongoing Care

Because dry eye is chronic, we follow up to refine your plan, treat flare-ups, and maintain comfort over the long term.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions about dry eye syndrome.

Dry eye has many causes and many treatments. Here are answers to the questions we hear most from patients looking for lasting relief.

What is dry eye syndrome?
Dry eye syndrome is a chronic condition in which the eyes don’t produce enough tears, the tears evaporate too quickly, or the tear film lacks the right quality. It causes burning, stinging, grittiness, blurred vision, and irritation.
What causes dry eye?
Common causes include aging, hormonal changes (especially in women after menopause), screen time, contact lens wear, medications (antihistamines, antidepressants, blood pressure medications), autoimmune conditions, and meibomian gland dysfunction in the eyelids.
What are the main symptoms?
Symptoms include burning, stinging, redness, grittiness or sandy feeling, light sensitivity, blurred vision that improves with blinking, contact lens discomfort, and paradoxically excessive watering as the eyes try to compensate.
How is dry eye diagnosed?
Diagnosis combines a careful symptom review with objective tests of tear volume, tear film stability, ocular surface health, and meibomian gland function. This precise approach identifies which type of dry eye is driving your symptoms.
What treatments are available?
Treatment may include preservative-free artificial tears, prescription drops (such as Restasis, Xiidra, or Cequa), warm compresses, lid hygiene, omega-3 supplements, punctal plugs, and in-office therapies for meibomian gland dysfunction.
Can dry eye cause complications?
Untreated chronic dry eye can lead to recurring infections, corneal damage, scarring, and blurred or fluctuating vision. Early treatment prevents these long-term issues and dramatically improves daily comfort.
When should I see a doctor?
If symptoms are interfering with daily life, screen work, reading, or contact lens wear, schedule an evaluation. Patients across Hollywood, Florida, Miami, Florida, Aventura, Hallandale Beach, and other South Florida communities trust Dr. Ozerov for advanced dry eye care.
